  YEAR FOR PRIESTS

St. Cloud Diocesan Council of Catholic Women at 25008 Mary St., Paynesville, MN 56362 US - Support One Another by Using Commissions

Support One Another by Using Commissions

The St. Cloud DCCW has seven commissions.  They include Legislative, Rural Life, Community Concerns, Church Communities, Family Concerns, International Concerns, and Organization Services.

"Therefore all that you wish men to do to you, even so do you also do to them" (Matt. 7:12)

The Corporal Works of Mercy: Feed the Hungry, Give Drink to the Thirsty, Clothe the Naked, Visit the Sick, and Imprisoned, Shelter the Homeless, & Bury the Dead.
.
The CCW Community Concerns Commission provides wonderful opportunities to fulfill God's desire for us to carry out these Works of Mercy through caring for our neighbors and members of our communities.

During this season of Lent is an excellent time to have our councils become involved in carrying out these works and then carrying out further while continuing to these actions throughout the year."

Feed The Hungry - March is National Food Month, consider having a food shelf drive.

Give Drink to the Thirsty - water is necessary for life - providing safe water & preserving our water supply"' is needed, especially when storms affect lives - encourage conserving water in our homes. Also, encourage - practices of caring for the environment.

Clothe the Naked - when doing spring-cleaning, donate clothes no longer being used to thrift stores, the missions or to families in need.

Visit the Sick & Imprisoned - have members of our councils, either individually or in small groups, visit nursing homes, homebound parishioners and/or prisons if there is one near your location.

Shelter the Homeless - help fund or volunteer to help with a shelter house for the homeless or try starting one in your area community if there isn't any. Work with Habitat for Humanity.

Bury the Dead - not only preparing and serving funeral meals with cheerfulness, attending the prayer service and funeral etc., but also giving support to the grieving family in any way to help with their loss.

Incorporate these "Works" in your council are endless, for who said we aren't a very creative and talented group of ladies!!!!

These ideas were taken from the New Ulm Diocesan Winter Newsletter-09
