PRAYER BLANKETS

Prayer Blankets

A Prayer blankets would be a good project for Catholic women to do to give to patients and/or residents in the hospital and/or nursing homes. Prayers should be included with the gift.  The following are prayers contributed by Kathy McFadden, Sauk Centre, DCCW Family Concerns chairwoman.

PRAYER BLANKET PRAYER
Loving God, may the warmth of this blanket be a constant reminder of Your comfort and healing presence in mind, body and soul.

Give us Your strength and courage in time of suffering and pain. O God, take away all our fears and needless worries and fill us with a deep peace.
Let all who are near us be a source of love, hope, and encouragement.

Embrace us in the arms of Your love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer Before Surgery
Loving Father, I entrust myself to your care this day; guide with wisdom and skill the minds and hands of the medical people who minister in your Name, and grant that every cause of illness be removed, I may be restored to soundness of health and learn to live in more perfect harmony with you and with those around me. Through Jesus Christ. Amen.
Into your hands, I commend my body and my soul. Amen.

Prayer After Surgery
Blessed Savior, I thank you that this operation is safely past, and now I rest in your abiding presence, relaxing every tension, releasing every care and anxiety, receiving more of your healing life into every part of my being. In moments of pain I turn to you for strength, in times of loneliness I feel your loving nearness. Grant that your life and love and joy may flow through me for the healing of others in your name. Amen.

Prayer for Healing:
O God, source of health and healing, the spirit of calm and peace, grant me a consciousness of your indwelling and surrounding presence that I may permit you to give me health, strength and peace, through Christ our Lord. Amen

Prayer for Those Suffering With Cancer:
Mary, health of the sick, you brought forth into our world Jesus Christ, our Divine Healer. In your caring goodness, intercede for all those who suffer from Cancer and truly are in need of miraculous assistance. If it is God’s will, I ask that the gift of healing from all forms of cancer be granted. Comfort me during times of anguish, pain, confusion and despair. Ask our gracious Savior to grant me physical health, inner peace and patience in suffering.
May God’s healing graces grant me a life of happiness, health and fulfillment here on earth, and one day, the joy of eternal glory in His loving embrace. Amen.

Prayer for Personal Healing:

Heavenly Mother, I seek your loving intercession for the gift of good health that I may serve your Divine Son more faithfully and love Him with all my heart and soul. I pray to be well and strong, that I may use the talents God has given me for His honor, in caring for my family, and in service to others. Help me to bear patiently with illness, and to grow always in God’s wisdom and grace. Amen.
