WATER FOR LIFE:

PURPOSE OF PROGRAMS SPONSORED BY NCCW & CRS
Established in 1978 to make safe, clean water available to women and their families.
Historically, it has funded wells in villages throughout Africa and Latin America.
Today, the funds are used in integrated water system projects. They combine construction of irrigation and or sanitation systems with education about hygiene.
MADONNA PLAN:
Established in 1958 to empower women by improving the well-being of mothers and expectant mothers through projects in the areas of health, education, and financial security. This is done in some instances by providing micro-loans to start businesses or learn how to better manage an existing business. The profits allow the women to feed their families more nutritious meals, pay school fees and pay for medical care.
HELP-A-CHILD
The funds are used to assist children through family and community based programs. Priority is placed on providing food and medicine, school and the training of teachers, health care and immunization, youth centers for teens, and help for disabled and vulnerable children.
REFUGEE WOMEN EMERGENCY FUND:
This program strives to meet the needs of women and children in desperate situations. Women are the primary caregivers of their families and therefore, responsible for the health and education of their children and general well-being of the family.
These tasks become difficult and dangerous in emergency situations, putting women at risk of violence.
The moment women flee their homeland they are at risk of rape, torture and sexual exploitation. Their journey may take them to lands where they cannot speak the language. They are totally dependent on strangers to meet their basic needs.

CATHOLIC RELIEF SERVICES (CRS)
Give to your parish organization. This will in turn be sent to the International
Concerns Chairperson and she will forward that donation to the National Council of Catholic Women and CRS. This seems like a long chain for the donation to go through, but it assures each Deanery credit and makes sure it goes to the designated project.
